The Missing Ingredient
A Man Discovers the Key to Soul Travel

When I first discovered Eckankar, I was excited to learn I could have my own personal experiences with Divine Spirit. I no longer had to rely on the experiences of other people.
I immediately became interested in Soul Travel. I wondered what it would be like to be free of my physical body. Could I learn how to Soul Travel too?
As I practiced singing HU, I saw a little point of blue light turning round and round in my inner vision. I thought it was too small to mean much. It wasn't what I expected.
I continued to sing HU as a daily spiritual exercise. Still, I didn't have much success with leaving my body.
I knew in my heart I could Soul Travel with the right effort. But as time passed, I began to wonder if I was missing something.
One day, I went to an ECK Worship Service. The officiator introduced HU to the attendees and explained that it was a love song to God. He asked that we fill our hearts with love as we sang this ancient name of God together.
I shut my eyes and thought sweetly of the presence of God inside my heart. As I sang HU, I filled myself with love for Divine Spirit and the Mahanta, then looked into my Spiritual Eye for the tiny point of blue light.
Suddenly, I was flying above a road, like an airplane that had just taken off above a runway. Even though I was moving very fast, I could see and perceive everything around me. I looked and discovered I was bodiless.
The freedom I felt could hardly be described in words. I was happy, elated, loving, and peaceful. It was ecstasy and delight. This was Soul Travel!
Then I understood that love had been the missing ingredient in my attempts to Soul Travel. The potential to leave my body had always been there, but divine love helped me realize it for myself.
Now I know the key to any spiritual experience is divine love. By opening my heart to God's love, I was able to realize my dream of Soul Travel and know for myself that I am Soul.
