Under the Care of the Mahanta
The Mahanta Helps a Woman across the Borders of Death
By DM
My close friend, whom I'll call Debbie, was in the hospital and gravely ill. Her situation was terminal. I didn't know how much longer she would survive.
One morning, I woke up from a vivid dream. In the dream, Debbie visited me and let me know she was ready to die. When I awoke, I wondered if she had taken a turn for the worse.
Later that day, I received a phone call from Debbie's husband that confirmed my dream. He said she didn't have much time left and suggested I come to the hospital as soon as possible to say good-bye.
When I arrived, I discovered Debbie was rarely awake. It was several days before we were finally able to have a conversation.
As we began to talk, Debbie suddenly became agitated. She urgently motioned me closer and said, "There's somebody standing in my room! There's a man standing in my room!"
I looked around and didn't see anyone. But I slowly became aware of another presence in the room not visible to physical eyes. Inwardly, Divine Spirit let me know it was the Angel of Death.
The Angel of Death often accompanies Soul into the next world to face judgment for deeds done on earth. Only the Mahanta can take Soul into the higher regions of heaven, bypassing the judge of the dead.
This other presence in her room was making Debbie uncomfortable. So I reminded her that we could call on the Mahanta for his help.
"Are you sure?" she asked. "Do you think he'll come?"
"Yes, absolutely!" I replied. "If the Mahanta is asked, he will come."
Too weak to sing HU out loud, Debbie listened silently as I sang this beautiful love song to God. Immediately we were both aware of the presence of the Mahanta in the room. Then the other presence suddenly disappeared. It was simply gone.
Soon, Debbie was resting comfortably again, and I ended my visit.
The following day, I arrived back at the hospital and found Debbie's husband and her sister-in-law already there.
When I entered the room, Debbie's husband was very excited to see me. He said he wanted me to talk with Debbie's sister-in-law, whom I'll call Pam. She had had a very interesting conversation with Debbie after I left the hospital the day before.
As Pam sat beside Debbie's bed watching her sleep, Debbie's face suddenly lit up with love and a big smile.
Pam whispered to her, "What's happening, Debbie? What's happening?"
Debbie said she was visiting a beautiful place made of pure crystal.
"It's absolutely beautiful!" she said, "and there's so much love here!" Then Debbie said a man was there with her and told Pam his name.
But Pam was having a hard time pronouncing the man's name. She hadn't heard it before.
I asked, "Was the name Mahanta?"
"Yes!" she replied instantly. "That's it!"
I now knew Debbie was indeed under the care and protection of the Mahanta. When she died shortly after, it was comforting to know she would enter a place of such beauty and love.
This experience reminded me again that singing HU is such an easy way for opening the heart to the gifts of the Mahanta. His protection is very real for every Soul who asks for his assistance and love.
